For those of you who had hoped that Diablo 4 would release in 2022, take out the clown paint. It ain't happening, folks

Promising a darker, grittier world, and literally hundreds of dungeons to hack through, Diablo 4 looks like it could be the sequel fans have been wanting since the ARPG classic Diablo 2. And with new details emerging about the game's first beta - a closed end game test for hardcore fans - things are really heating up down there in Sanctuary, so now it's high time we run through everything we know about Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Release Date

For those of you who had hoped that Diablo 4 would release in 2022, take out the clown paint. It ain't happening, folks. However, you won't have to wait too long. Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will release in 2023.

Diablo 4 beta speculation

While there is no official date, we know the beta is coming, thanks to the ‘Diablo Hell’s Ink’ promotion. Fans who attended the first of these events to get a “free Diablo flash tattoo” also got a card. This card granted them access to an upcoming beta and a free copy of the final game. It’s currently unclear if this promotion will continue to hand out these cards for the rest of the tour. We also saw the Diablo 4 beta installation appear in the Battle.net launcher.

This wouldn’t be the first time we got an early look at a new Diablo game before release. The Diablo Immortal PC open beta went live in June 2022, while the Diablo 2 Resurrected open beta was the last in a string of test builds in 2021. Given that Diablo 4 is a fully open-world game, multiple beta tests to ensure multiplayer works as intended seem likely.

Diablo 4 Platforms and Crossplay

At launch, Diablo 4 will be available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and last-generation consoles (PS4 Xbox One) in 2023. For those unaware, Blizzard has been bought by Microsoft. So one would expect that the game to be an Xbox exclusive. Thankfully, that’s not the case, as Diablo 4 will be coming to a variety of platforms right at launch. Moreover, PC players will love that Diablo 4 will even support controllers.

When it comes to crossplay, during the recent Xbox and Bethesda showcase, it has been confirmed that Diablo 4 will come with crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms. However, do note that you will require a Battle.Net account.

Diablo 4 trailers
