Carsickness, or motion sickness, is a common condition that occurs when your body’s sense of balance becomes confused while traveling in a vehicle. This happens when your inner ear, which controls balance, senses movement, but your eyes see something still, like the interior of the car. As a result, you may feel nauseous, dizzy, or even experience headaches or stomach discomfort. Carsickness is often triggered by fast speeds, sharp turns, or winding roads. To ease the symptoms, it helps to focus on the horizon, get fresh air, or take small sips of ginger tea or ginger ale, which are known to settle the stomach.
